ANIMA is more than just an educational non-profit based in Uruguay. It is an organization that is driving social change and is dedicated to bridging the gap between education and work. With a particular emphasis on aiding young people in socially vulnerable situations, ANIMA's mission is to promote dual training - integrating practical and theoretical education - to foster professional and personal development.
Continuing with the theme of accessibility and inclusive design, this week we will explore the topic of color blindness. Approximately 300 million people, or 4.5% of the world's population, have some form of color blindness. While genetics is the main cause, chronic illnesses like diabetes, multiple sclerosis, strokes, certain medications, and advanced age can also contribute. Color blindness occurs when cone cells (photoreceptor cells responsible for color vision in the eye's retina) are either absent or lacking proper function.
A non-fungible token, or NFT for short, is a unique asset on the blockchain. NFTs possess individual identification codes that authenticate and distinguish them from other tokens. More simply put, NFTs are a new way to prove ownership of a digital object like a JPEG of an original artwork, a piece of real estate (virtual or physical), or even an MP3 of a song. Because these files exist on the blockchain, every time an NFT is created, traded, bought, or sold there is a record of the transaction. Since these assets can be created (a.k.a. “minted”) and sold on many online marketplaces, NFTs are accessible for collectors around the world. This accessibility has caused NFTs to become a great opportunity for non profit organizations (NGOs) to leverage for fundraising and getting new people in their donor network.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, businesses were facing an incredible dilemma: take the plunge into digital transformation waters or risk disappearing. Dura Digital was created to empower them to realize their digital future, by building a team of creative technologists that could solve the most challenging tech and business problems in the digital world.
We as a team took the time to reflect on the type of company we wanted to be, and not be.
We didn't want to be a conventional consulting company - we wanted to be bright, energetic, and curious.
The kind of organization that always responds to emails without needing a follow up, asks great questions, and is ready to roll up their
sleeves and support our clients. We wanted to be people you put complete faith into to deliver on our promises, and that you could count on to solve problems creatively and respectfully. And so our values were born, which to this day act as our guiding principles for how we conduct ourselves and do business.
Dura Digital was also founded with a genuine appreciation for Latin American culture, which is reflected in our name (“dura” means “the best” in Puerto Rican slang) and in the partners and team members that we have chosen to join us on this journey. We are building incredible teams as far south as Uruguay, that enhanced our ability to serve organizations while contributing to a diverse and inclusive company culture.
