The software engineering and consulting company is strengthening its local operation while expanding across North America through digital transformation and artificial intelligence initiatives.

Dura Digital is driving technology projects from Uruguay for companies in the United States and Canada, with an increasing focus on artificial intelligence (AI)-powered solutions. Specializing in software engineering and digital transformation, the firm develops part of the technology that North American companies implement across sectors such as high tech, financial services, and extractive industries.

After more than five years of working with clients across North America, the company is now in a growth stage that combines commercial expansion with new technological capabilities. In that process, AI has become one of the core pillars of the projects it delivers.

“We are incorporating AI into nearly every project we execute, no longer as a future promise, but as a practical tool that improves processes, accelerates decision-making, and creates real impact on our clients’ results,” said the company’s CEO, Fernanda Badano.

Many of these initiatives are delivered through teams distributed across Uruguay and North America, a model that enables local technology talent to contribute to digital transformation projects for companies in those markets.

Expansion

As part of this strategy, Uruguay has become a key pillar of the company’s global operation. The country has evolved from being a source of talent into a development center from which engineering, design, and technology architecture projects are delivered internationally.

Today, a significant portion of the technical work the company provides to North American clients is developed from Uruguay. That role has also evolved toward greater participation in product decisions and strategic conversations with clients.

“Uruguay is not our cost base; it is our center of excellence,” Badano said, describing the role the local team plays within the organization.

Dual-Shore

To serve North American companies, Dura Digital operates with a model that combines talent in Uruguay and other countries across the region with a direct presence in the United States and Canada. This approach, known as dual-shore, makes it possible to stay close to clients while simultaneously building engineering capabilities from Latin America.

The time zone overlap with North American markets also enables seamless day-to-day collaboration between teams. According to Badano, that factor, combined with the technical education and English proficiency of local professionals, has become a competitive advantage for companies in the region.

AI as a Growth Engine

At the same time, AI has become one of the company’s main growth drivers. Many companies looking to modernize their operations are now integrating it into concrete business processes.

One of the most in-demand areas today is intelligent process automation, which helps identify repetitive or high-volume tasks that can be managed through AI-based systems.

The company is also developing conversational assistants and data analysis tools that support internal teams. “AI acts as a copilot, helping professionals access information, analyze data, and make decisions faster,” the executive explained.

Outlook

The combination of AI and distributed technology teams is changing the way many companies build digital products. According to Badano, this model allows smaller teams to achieve results that once required much larger structures.

In that context, Uruguay remains a central part of the company’s growth strategy.

“What will change is the scale and the visibility. As the company grows across North America, we want more and more projects, talent, and capabilities to continue originating from Uruguay,” she said.

The goal, Badano concluded, is for Uruguay to become a natural partner for complex technology projects in the global market.
