Product
Human-Centered Design

THE CLIENT

The trucking company builds hardware and software to offer Technology-as-a-service (TaaS) products to increase efficiency and safety for fuel tankers.
The company has created physical devices to monitor truck tank levels and locations, which are synced with proprietary web applications to help with administrative tasks.

THE CHALLENGE

A trucking company came to us with the goal of improving the visual design and overall user experience of their mapping and delivery scheduling portals.
Dura Digital will support the company through their human-centered-design studio, by creating mockups and prototypes of the existing portals that are aligned to the client’s branding, responsive (optimized for mobile, and desktop), and user-friendly.
The trucking company has two web applications: mapping and delivery scheduling portals that:

  • Sync with their internet connected devices
  • Improve efficiency and reduce manual effort for delivery scheduling
  • Monitor tank levels remotely

THE SOLUTION

Dura Digital has partnered with a trucking company to identify, design, and implement UI/UX improvements for the two portals. Dura Digital will work closely with the the trucking company dev and business teams to understand the short and long term goals of the portals and the solution as a whole, define who the key users are, and their goals.
Dura Digital proposed a 3 phase approach: Discovery, Design, Prototyping.

Discovery

  • Conduct stakeholder interviews/workshops to identify key personas, use cases, and business goals
  • Create and refine user personas
  • Map user journeys

Design

  • Investigate existing branding guidelines for the trucking company
  • Create high-fidelity mockups of maps portal, for mobile, desktop, and tablet
  • Create high-fidelity mockups of delivery scheduling portal, for mobile, desktop, and tablet

  • Review mockups with the trucking company team, and iterate as needed

Prototyping

  • Create clickable prototypes of happy-path functionality for maps portal
  • Create clickable prototypes of happy-path functionality for delivery scheduling portal

Additional print scope

  • Update existing trade show print assets including standing posters for the booth and sales cut sheets for multiple product lines.

THE RESULTS

  • Dura Digital provided clearly structured user personas to aid internal future development for features and UI interaction decisions on the company’s  web portals.
  • Mockup web portals allowed their company web developer to implement the required functionality with a clear and easily translatable design reference framework in Figma for both desktop and mobile views.
  • Click-Through prototypes were shared with end users at the early stages of development to gather quick feedback and adjust workflow planning prior to full website development.
  • Trade show material was delivered on time allowing the company to ensure they  had all material available for the upcoming show.
