Recently, I spoke with a far away family member about my experience at Dura Digital. I have been thrilled to discover how different this workplace is. Let’s begin with my sweet child that just turned three years old and how much she needs from me all day long. How glorious to find an employer that doesn’t mind a night owl! I put the kid gently to bed, eat part of a chocolate bar and spend some time being an adult, even if it’s just for a little bit. I am a big fan of ‘schedule send’ just so my colleagues aren’t disturbed by my lack of business hours. That being said, they probably wouldn’t mind and know to turn alerts off, considering how far flung our time zones are. Our diverse nearshore workplace means we get to hear about the weather first-hand in Madrid, Montevideo, Boston, Seattle and Edmonton all during one team meeting! We are definitely an international crew and take a lot of pride in our diversity. 

So what brought me personally to Dura Digital? I’d been thinking for a while about moving fully into the nonprofit sector because so much of the for profit world seems so focused on financial gain that they’ve forgotten the value of human connection, squeezing every drop of value from their employees. Dura Digital is a different kind of for profit–where employees themselves are truly valued by leadership. We also value each other and communicate clearly and respectfully with one another so that everyone can do a better, more efficient job. I would describe this enterprise as lean, flexible and accessible and I would describe the work in one word: engaging. The positive feedback culture is rich and inclusive, with a shared focus on how we can best support our clients. These driving forces combine to create a very unique vision that we all strive to support. I want Dura Digital to excel because Dura Digital has the best interests of Latin America at its very core and as integral to its vision. I want to help to develop talent in places that are undervalued, because people everywhere deserve equitable access to opportunities.

Another aspect of spending time with the amazing people of Dura Digital is the balance of being given gentle direction by leadership and then being given the space to create, manage and learn independently. It always seems that when I come to a place where I pause, the CEO comes by to ask for my help with something specific. It’s purely intuitive–her innate ability to read the room, even virtually, and help people do their best. So just imagine what our team can do for your business with leadership like that! Give us your toughest problems and we will put our minds together for you, with the best management I’ve ever had the pleasure of interacting with. As part of our budding business development team, I look forward to scaling this organization with a high level of efficiency and care.
